Slipway Studio is proud to be exhibiting some new faces to the Staithes art scene as well as some of the usual Slipway residents................Its going to be a great weekend so make sure you come along and check out the artwork - 6/7th December 2014
After all the hard work put in by Jason, Steve, Nigel, Dean, Max, and latterly Andrew, since January, Slipwaystudio@staithes was finally ready to open its doors to Artists and the discerning public.
The Staithes Festival of Art and Heritage provided a glorious background for the official opening and, at around 7pm, Staithes friends and neighbours gathered in Chapel Yard to hear Alan express his thanks for all the help he had received in completing this exciting project before delivering a thankfully brief and unashamed plug for the purpose of the Studio – giving the opportunity for Artists to display and sell their own work in the fantastic village of Staithes with all its artistic heritage.
At this point, with the preliminaries and adverts over, Alan invited Ann Lawson – lovely lady – to cut the ribbon on the freshly painted door and Slipwaystudio@staithes was open for business.
Later – the preview evening for the Festival – the Studio provided a great location for interesting conversation (some of it even about the art) and enjoyment as other Staithes friends arrived to look at what was an eclectic selection of pictures from Sue Ford, Alan Young, Andrew Young, and Patrick Miller.
A good time was had by all and a great start to the weekend
